Learning Objectives

Several arrows pointing to a target.

Learning objectives outline what learners should achieve and the key elements and actions that will be done to achieve the Learning Outcomes.

Module: Listening Comprehension

MLO:

Learners will be able to evaluate oral comprehension through various modes to accommodate diverse learning styles.

Activities:

  • Learners will be presented with different types of media, presenting different cultural and real-world scenarios, with audio tracks - train station announcement , advertisements, and dialogue between two people, and videos of native French speakers talking about their regional history and/or culture. (Hearing impaired learners will have access to a transcript of the audio.)
  • After each media presentation, learners will be given three written questions regarding information from the audio - responses will be varied from multiple choice, image representations and fill in the blank.
  • After each written response is completed, instructor will ask closed-ended statements (yes/no), followed by a open-ended discussion prompts of why or how.

Learning Objectives

  1. Learners will use of a variety of resources and materials to demonstrate listening comprehension of context, words and phrases. (2)
  2. Learners will demonstrate communicative proficiency and comprehension of context and conversation. (2),(3)
  3. Where a learner is non-verbal or neurodiverse challenges that may inhibit oral skills in a group setting, they may demonstrate comprehension of context and conversation through written responses or recorded audio responses to discussion prompts. (6)
  4. Students will interpret a variety of cultural products in the target language from a critical perspective. (2), (5)
